Custom Retractable Banner
With Wide-Base Aluminum Stand

Indoor Use Only · 33.5" × 79" · 13.4 mil PET Film · RGB Files Welcome · From $30.00

A full-height custom retractable banner that pulls up in seconds and packs into a carry bag, sold as a complete set or as a replacement graphic. The graphic is 13.4 mil PET film, not PVC scrim, so it hangs flat and holds fine detail, and the retractable banner stand is new this year: a wide, flat aluminum base at the same price. An indoor display for showrooms, trade show booths, and lobbies.

01Why This Banner

Why Choose Our Custom Retractable Banner?

A full-height indoor display, printed and finished in house.

01

The Complete Set Is $69.99

The wide-base aluminum stand, your printed graphic, and a padded carry bag. Bought separately that is $79.99, so the set saves you $10.00.
02

13.4 mil PET Film, Not Scrim or Thin PP

Most US retractable banners print on woven PVC scrim or thin PP, around 6 mil. Ours is PET at 9.4 mil, 13.4 mil laminated, so the graphic hangs flat under hall lighting.
03

A Wide Base That Does Not Rock

The old stand balanced on two thin twist-out feet. The new one sits on a wide, flat aluminum base, weight low and spread out, so it holds square on its own in a busy booth.
04

Printed at 8 Pass on Epson's Newest Press

An 11-color EPSON SureColor S9170, run in 8-pass premium mode rather than the fast 4-pass setting most shops quote on. It also means you can send your file in RGB.
05

A Trade Show Banner Stand You Can Fly With

Base down, graphic up to 79 inches, hook it onto the pole. No tools, and it packs back into the bag just as fast, which is what makes it worth flying to a show.
06

Buy Only the Part You Need

The full set, a print only if you own a stand, or a stand only if you have the graphic.

03The Stand

The Upgraded Retractable Banner Stand

We replaced the stand this year. Twice the weight, a wide aluminum base, and the same price.

The old retractable banner stand balanced on two thin aluminum plates that twisted out from under the cassette, and a 79 inch panel on two narrow strips rocked front to back whenever someone brushed past it. The new one has a wide, flat aluminum base built into the cassette, so there is nothing to swing out and nothing to forget. It is about twice the weight and twice the packed bulk, and that is the point: the mass sits low and spread across a broad footprint, so the stand holds square on its own on a hard floor, on carpet, and in a busy booth.

Side by side comparison of the previous and upgraded retractable banner stands. The previous stand rests on two thin twist-out feet with a narrow footprint. The upgraded stand sits on one wide, flat aluminum base with a broad footprint, shown with a close up of each base.
Previous Stand Versus the Upgraded Stand
What actually changed when we replaced the retractable banner stand this year.
Previous Stand Upgraded Stand
Base Two thin twist-out plates One wide, flat aluminum base
Stability Rocked front to back Holds square on its own
Weight Lighter About 2x heavier
Packed Bulk Smaller About 2x larger
Body Aluminum Aluminum, plastic side caps
Price $69.99 set $69.99 set
Aluminum alloy retractable banner stand details: the cassette base with its two-piece support pole, the leveling foot under the base, the chrome end cap where the graphic leaves the cassette, the pole-to-rail connector, and the padded carry bag with its woven oxford fabric
🧲 All Aluminum, Not Plastic
Retractable banner stands in this shape are widely sold with plastic bodies that look identical in a product photo. Ours is aluminum right through: the cassette is one piece of extruded aluminum and the support pole is aluminum too. Only the two side caps are plastic. A padded carry bag comes with every stand.
⚖️ The Honest Trade-Off: It Is Heavier
Twice the weight and twice the bulk costs more to ship and is more to carry. We made that trade on purpose: a banner stand has one job, which is to stand, and the weight is what buys it. If a light display matters more, our X banner stand is the lighter option.
The best retractable banner sold in the US at this price.

An all-aluminum stand with a wide base that does not rock, where most stands at this price are plastic-bodied or balanced on twist-out feet, and a 13.4 mil PET graphic printed at 8 pass. Everything is printed and finished at our own shop in Chatsworth, so this is banner printing in Los Angeles rather than a listing that forwards your file somewhere else. If you find better at $69.99, we would like to see it.

04Film and Press

13.4 mil PET Film, Printed at 8 Pass

Thicker film than standard roll-up stock.

PET Film 240 microns (9.4 mil)
Lamination 100 microns (3.9 mil), glossy or matte, no extra cost
Finished Graphic 340 microns (13.4 mil)
Print Quality 8-pass premium mode on every banner
Press 11-color EPSON SureColor S9170, plus a 10-color S80600L
🔍 Why PET, and Why This Thick
PVC scrim is woven, and that weave sits between your artwork and the viewer: small type softens, photographs lose their edge. PP film is smooth but thin, around 6 mil, so it ripples under hall lighting and curls after a few shows. Ours is PET at 9.4 mil, with a smooth closed surface: the body keeps the graphic flat, the surface keeps the print sharp up close.

🔎 Three Questions Worth Asking Any Printer
Which printer? Mutoh, Roland, and Mimaki top out at eight inks in one configuration. The S9170 and S80600L are the only solvent presses running 11 and 10 inks at once, and they are the best solvent printers made.
How many passes? Four is fast and cheap, and it shows. We print at 8.
What material, how thick? Ask for the number in mil or microns; plenty of shops print roll-ups on thin PP and never say so.
⚠️ Do Not Order a Roll Up Banner From a UV Printer
UV ink cures hard on the surface instead of bonding into the film, so it is far less flexible than solvent ink, and a retractable banner is the worst job for it: the graphic rolls into the cassette and back out every time you use it. UV ink can crack and flake off along the edges and the rolled creases, and there is no fixing it. Ask any printer whether they use solvent or UV. Ours is solvent.
05Indoor Only

Why This Vertical Banner Stand Is Indoor Only

Read this before you order: this display is not made to stand outside.

A vertical banner stand like this one is an indoor display. The base is a light aluminum cassette with no ballast and nothing anchoring it to the ground. The wide base makes it steady on a floor; it does not make it steady in wind. Outside, a 33.5 inch wide panel behaves like a sail, and moisture that gets into the cassette does not come back out.

⚠️ Do Not Use This Banner Outdoors
Keep the stand indoors, on a flat floor, away from doorways, loading bays, and air vents. For outdoor displays use our vinyl banners, which mount with grommets, or our mesh banners, which let wind pass through.
  • Where a full-height display earns its keep. At 79 inches it is read from across a room, so it belongs where there is floor space: trade show booth backdrops, showroom corners, exhibition halls, lobbies, and registration desks.

📐 Get the Template Before You Start
The 33.5" × 79" figure is what people see. The printed sheet runs taller, because the bottom rolls into the cassette and the rail takes up the top, and anything in those zones disappears. Contact us for the retractable banner template file and build on it.
Print-ready files only, and we are happy to check yours. We do not offer a design service, which is part of how the price stays where it is, but we tell you before we print if something is off. Call +1 (818) 213-5871 with any question.

08FAQ

Retractable and Roll Up Banner FAQ

The stand, the film, printing, and ordering.

Q 01

Is this a retractable banner or a roll up banner?

The same product. Retractable banner is the usual US term; roll up banner, pull up banner, and vertical banner stand all mean the same thing, and a trade show banner stand is this product doing that job.

Q 02

What size is the retractable banner?

The display size is 33.5" × 79", which is 85 × 200 cm, the standard US size. The printed sheet runs taller than the visible area, so contact us for the template first.

Q 03

What is the difference between the combo, stand only, and print only?

Combo at $69.99 is the stand, your printed graphic, and the carry bag. Stand Only is $49.99, Print Only $30.00. Separately that is $79.99, so the combo saves $10.00.

Q 04

Should I pick glossy or matte lamination?

Glossy deepens color and suits photography. Matte is glare-free, which keeps text and QR codes readable under spotlights or beside a window. Both are 100 microns and both are free.

Q 05

Do I need to convert my artwork to CMYK?

No. RGB is the better choice here. Our 11-color press has dedicated orange, red, and green inks, so it reproduces colors outside the CMYK gamut entirely and converting first throws those away. CMYK is still accepted.

Q 06

What if my retractable banner arrives damaged?

Take a photo and send it to us through web chat, and we will reprint and reship your order as quickly as possible.

We Print the File You Send

Design services are not offered. We print your artwork as supplied, optimized for press.

We print the file you upload. We don't redesign artwork, edit your text, or build print files from scratch, which is part of how we keep prices low and turnaround fast. What we do is prepare your file for the press: we check the size, bleed, and resolution, and make the technical adjustments needed for a clean print.

If a file cannot be printed as it is, we contact you by text, email, or both and ask for a corrected file. If we don't receive a print-ready file within 3 business days, we cancel the order and issue a full refund.

01
Your file is the wrong size, or has no bleed
We extend the artwork to the correct size ourselves, using the generative AI tools built into Adobe Photoshop, and then print. We do this without pausing your order and without contacting you first. If the artwork cannot be extended cleanly, we stop and ask you for a corrected file.
02
The resolution is lower than 300 DPI
If the printed piece still reads properly, we print it. A file slightly under spec usually looks fine at arm's length. If the resolution is so low that the text cannot be read, we stop and ask for a higher-resolution file.
03
Your artwork was generated by AI
Image generators often produce smeared or malformed letterforms and colors that drift from the prompt. We have no way to tell which of those are mistakes and which are deliberate, so we print the file exactly as you uploaded it.
💡
Want to start at the right size? Download one of our free product templates. Trim, bleed, and safe area are already in place, so all you have to do is drop your design in.

The Three Lines on Every Template

Understand these and your file will cut clean every time.

Sticker artwork template showing bleed line, die line, and safe line
Bleed line (outermost), die line (the finished edge), and safe line (innermost).

Bleed Line: extend artwork to here
The outer boundary, 0.075 inch beyond the finished edge. Any background color, pattern, or image that should reach the edge of your sticker must extend all the way to this line. Bleed absorbs the small shift that happens during cutting, so no white slivers appear along the border. Most printers ask for a full 1/8 inch, but our cutting tolerance is tight enough that 0.075 inch is all we need, which leaves you more usable design space.

Die Line: the finished edge
This is where the blade cuts. The die line defines the actual size and shape of your finished sticker. It's a guide only, so never print the die line itself as part of your artwork.

Safe Line: keep text and logos inside
The inner boundary, 0.075 inch inside the finished edge. Anything you can't afford to lose, including text, logos, QR codes, borders and contact details, belongs entirely inside this area. Elements placed too close to the die line risk being clipped.
⚠️
Watch out for thin borders. A frame or outline that hugs the die line will look uneven if the cut shifts even slightly. Either pull the border well inside the safe area, or let the design bleed off the edge entirely.
📏
Using a template from another printer? Files built with the US standard 1/8 inch bleed work here without any changes. We trim the extra bleed down to 0.075 inch with a clipping mask before printing. Just make sure nothing important sits outside the safe area.
🪧
Large-format products use a 1/8 inch bleed. Banners, A-frame signs, X-banners, car magnets, car wraps, window decals, and other large-format products have a wider cutting tolerance, so their files need the US standard 1/8 inch bleed instead of 0.075 inch. Keep text and logos at least 1/8 inch inside the finished edge as well.

Accepted File Formats

Vector files give the sharpest results, but we accept high-resolution raster files too.

Format Type Best For Recommended
AI Vector Logos, text, line art, custom shapes Best
PDF Vector Print-ready files with fonts outlined Best
EPS Vector Legacy vector artwork Best
PSD Raster Layered photo-based designs Good
PNG Raster Designs needing a transparent background Good
JPG Raster Photographs and full-color images Good
TIFF Raster High-quality scanned or photo artwork Good
Accepted artwork file formats for RedPrinting
  • Outline your fonts: Convert all text to outlines or curves so typefaces render correctly on our end.
  • Use CMYK color mode: Printing is a CMYK process. RGB files are converted automatically, and bright neon or vivid blues may shift slightly.
  • Flatten transparency: Complex transparency and drop shadows can behave unpredictably; flatten them before exporting.
  • Embed or attach linked images: Missing links are the most common reason a file gets sent back.

Image Resolution

300 DPI at final print size is the target.

Resolution is measured at the size the artwork will actually be printed. A 300 DPI image looks crisp on a 2-inch sticker but turns soft when stretched across a 24-inch poster. Always check the pixel dimensions against the finished size, not against how the file looks on screen.

Web images pulled from a website or social media are usually 72 DPI, which is roughly a quarter of the detail we need. Enlarging a low-resolution file doesn't add detail back. It only makes the softness more visible.

Low-resolution artwork? If your piece still reads clearly in print, we print it. If the text would be unreadable, we contact you and ask for a higher-resolution file.

Comparison of image resolutions at 72 DPI and 300 DPI
The same artwork at low and high resolution.
🔎
Quick check: Multiply the finished size in inches by 300. A 3" × 2" sticker needs an image of roughly 900 × 600 pixels or larger.

Choosing Your Material

Where the sticker will live decides which stock to use.

💧 Vinyl Stickers
Built for the outdoors.
  • Waterproof and tear-resistant
  • Resists fading from sun and weather
  • Holds up on bottles, laptops, and cars
  • Higher cost per sticker
Choose vinyl if the sticker will face water, sunlight, handling, or outdoor conditions.
📦 Paper Stickers
The economical indoor choice.
  • Thin, smooth, and easy to write on
  • Noticeably lower cost per sticker
  • Ideal for packaging, boxes, and mailers
  • Not water- or weather-resistant
Choose paper if the sticker stays indoors: product labels, packaging seals, or promotional use.
🪟 Clear Stickers
Transparent vinyl that lets the surface show through.

Clear stickers are printed on transparent vinyl, so the surface underneath becomes part of the design. They're waterproof, tear-resistant, and work beautifully on glass bottles, cups, laptops, and windows where a white sticker edge would look out of place.

Because there's no white backing, light colors and white ink behave differently than they do on paper. Designs with bold shapes, dark colors, or deliberate negative space tend to read best.

🎯
Still deciding? Think about where the sticker ends up. Anything that gets wet, handled often, or lives outside should be vinyl. Everything else can be paper.

Setting Up Sticker Sheets

Multiple designs and sizes on a single sheet.

Sticker sheets let you print several different designs together on one backing sheet. Our sheet templates come pre-populated with placeholder artwork that you replace with your own files.

01
Create each design as its own file
Build every individual sticker separately and save each one as a PDF. Each file should already include its own bleed and safe area.
02
Open the sticker sheet template
Download the sheet template that matches your ordered size and open it in Illustrator.
03
Choose Replace at the prompt
A dialog will appear asking whether to Ignore, Replace, or Cancel. Check "Apply to all," then click Replace.
04
Select your PDF artwork
Point the dialog to your individual sticker PDF. The placeholder is swapped out and your design fills the position on the sheet.
05
Review and save
Confirm each design sits inside its own cut line with nothing overlapping, then save the finished sheet as a PDF and upload it with your order.
Sticker sheet artwork setup guideline

Common Mistakes to Avoid

The issues that most often send a file back for revision.

  • No bleed on the background: Artwork that stops at the die line leaves white edges when the cut shifts. Extend it 0.075 inch past the finished edge, or 1/8 inch for large-format products.
  • Text too close to the edge: Anything outside the safe area can be trimmed off. Pull text and logos at least 0.075 inch inside the die line, or 1/8 inch for large-format products.
  • Low-resolution images: Artwork saved from a website prints soft and pixelated. Work from the original high-resolution file whenever possible.
  • Live fonts not outlined: Fonts we don't have installed get substituted. Convert all type to outlines before exporting.
  • RGB color mode: Vivid RGB colors can't always be matched in CMYK. Design in CMYK to see accurate colors from the start.
  • Die line left in the artwork: The cut line is a guide, not a design element. Remove it or keep it on its own separate layer.
  • Wrong template size: Make sure the template you downloaded matches the size you actually ordered.
